ZOOM ONLY FOR MARCH EVENING MEETING!
Future of Guild discussion time 7-7:30 (please join promptly!)
Program starts at 7:30. Program: Linda London talks about dyeing fabric in unique ways.
Are you thinking about ways to take your weaving products to the next level? Do you dream about color interactions or are fascinated by the question of "what if I ...." March's program will offer you ideas and techniques to answer those questions. Linda London is a newer member of the Hudson-Mohawk Weavers’ Guild, and also an avid quilter and crafter. Last Fall, she attended a week-long "Layer Upon Layer" workshop with Carol Soderlund. Carol is a fabric printer, designer and author who teaches workshops on dying, layering, and dispatching dyes. This process uses dye paste and silk screens to layer color onto fabric. The class wore respirators to dispatch some of the dye from the cloth to create even more sophisticated patterns and colors.
Linda dyes long lengths of fabrics using simple dye processes to make rag rugs; and to dye yarn and fleece with Connie LaPorta. She will share slides of the various processes and simple instructions on how you can design fabrics. And, if you don’t like the results, failures make great rag rugs!
